Miami, FL (May 3rd, 2022) – A new era in music has begun and Spanish rap/hip-hop legend Lito MC Cassidy and global icon Daddy Yankee take center stage once again. The artists recently released the most anticipated sequel in Latin music “El Gran Robo 2” and from San Juan, Puerto Rico they are premiering the music video. The event, which took 20 years to unfold, returns right where superstars left it in 2002 with “El Gran Robo”. The original track and video, which fused reggaeton and hip-hop in Spanish at the turn of the century, saw the artists take on the role of two criminals ready to rob a bank in a special cinematic narrative produced by DJ Dicky.
After 11 days of filming, over 25 locations between San Juan, Puerto Rico, Miami, FL and North Carolina, 60 workers in the filming crew, 63 clothes changes and 140 post produced shots, Lito MC Cassidy made an extraordinary job as a Director to present a musical film that explains what happened to the robbers in the 2002’s original song and how they survived to create this sequel. In addition, the characters’ personalities are amplified in their fictional worlds. “In the video you are not going to see us perform as artists, it is a musical film, where Yankee and I are acting. We are presenting ‘El Gran Robo 2’ in a cinematic manner”, expressed Lito MC Cassidy, who was the Director and Executive Producer of the video under his two companies Lito Music LLC and RapCinema LLC.
For the music video, Flaco Figueroa participated as producer, Luis Martínez as the Director of Photography, and Ciro Cid as Director of VFX (visual effects), creating the perfect team to meet and exceed Lito’s expectations. “Without a doubt, they exceeded my expectations and it was such an innovative experience. I am sure that the audience will enjoy the video. This is a way to give more entertainment and bring something different to the audience” said Lito MC Cassidy, who received his first Latin GRAMMY® Award nomination last year for his song “La Vendedora de Placer” in the category of “Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song”.
“El Gran Robo 2” is part of Lito‘s recent album, La Jaula de los Vivos, which takes the listeners to a fictional town beset with systemic racism. With his songs, the artist shares his trials, tribulations, and triumphs, opening up and sharing his world like never before.
