Miami, FL. (May 25, 2023) – KHEA, the renowned Latin trap lyricist, has announced the release of his highly anticipated album, SEROTONINA. This comeback project marks a new era for KHEA, showcasing his evolution through various sonic journeys and presenting him in a more commercial light. The 13-track album blends KHEA‘s sharp writing and storytelling with pop and global genres, taking listeners on an instrumental voyage never before heard by the wordsmith.
SEROTONINA features an eclectic collection of tracks, incorporating genres such as alternative rock, salsa, Amapiano, reggaeton, and bachata. KHEA, known for paving the way for many of today’s rising Argentinian trap stars, illustrates the emotions and vulnerability of dealing with life’s intense reality, often experienced with depression.
Produced by Colombian prodigy Nobeat, mastered in Argentina by Mariano Bilinkins, and written by KHEA alongside acclaimed songwriter SpreadLof, SEROTONINA follows the release of the enigmatic announcement trailer, which premiered in theaters in Spain and Argentina, as well as the main singles “Eclipse” and “Para Amarte A Ti” featuring Tiago PZK – a powerful ballad that positions KHEA as a crooner, poetically describing the tug of war one has when battling both mental and love-triggered emotions.
SEROTONINA delves into various themes, including the strong sense of romanticism and love tropes present in tracks like “Con Un Beso,” “Efecto,” and the reggaeton banger, “Feeling.” The album also explores movement and dance with genres like salsa (“Sin Corazón”) and bachata (“Como Yo Te Quiero”), while the storytelling and narration found in the Caribbean-made genres are also very present, a testament to KHEA‘s talent as a songwriter. The album also features the South African-bred Amapiano (“Nunca Voy Solo” featuring Milo J), conveying a message of unity and building a community.
The recording of SEROTONINA took place during a tumultuous time in KHEA‘s life. Through the album’s composition, it exposes an emotional spectrum of joy, love, heartache, and the feelings of uncertainty that were present during his most depressive moments. The opening track sets the tone for this, with a personal monologue in which he revisits his life and career decisions, as well as his condition, over an ominous beat. On tracks like “Batalla,” he shares his internal battles, while “Eclipse” stands as a metaphor and play of words to these negative realities, turning off your light.
SEROTONINA is a product of healing and recovery but also serves as a release, joy, and motivation. KHEA‘s current phase is one filled with reflection and maturity.
