Miami, FL. (August 17, 2023) – 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of Clásicos de la Provincia, the album that Carlos Vives used to create a new sound that changed the history of Colombian pop and opened paths for future generations, projecting the vallenato sound internationally. Today, Vives joins forces for the first time with another one of the most important Colombian artists of his generation, Juanes, for a new version of the classic vallenato by Carlos Huertas “Las Mujeres,” creating one of the most anticipated moments for Latin music.
This historic collaboration is a preview for what’s to come from Vives on his upcoming new album, which will feature new versions of classic Vallenato songs decorated with Vives’ own trademark sound. What better way to kick off the 30th year anniversary of los “Clasicos” than by joining fellow multi-platinum and Latin GRAMMY® winning artist Juanes.
“The version we are presenting with Juanes of ‘Las Mujeres’ demonstrates the power of our music and the connection of minstrels like Carlos Huertas in our contemporary music. And of course, for me it is a dream come true to record with Juanes,” expressed Carlos Vives.
The music video for “Las Mujeres” showcases more than 25 incredible women of different nationalities, with different professions and trades, highlighting that with their work women really move the world. Some scenes of the video present the Olympic champion Mariana Pajón, two accordion players who add modernity (Lupe) and roots (arhauca – Ati), designer Lia Samanta, graffiti artist Ledania and philanthropists Catalina Escobar, Ruth Chaparro and Nadia Sanchez. The video additionally shows influencers like the Venezuelan Surthany Hejeij (Surthy Cooks) and Janeth Colmenares (the mom of the recipes), among many others.
