Miami, FL. (January 16, 2025) – Gente de Zona, one of the most influential groups in Latin music, releases their highly anticipated single, “Almohada,” in collaboration with Cuban singer El Metáliko. This track, available now on all digital platforms, is the first preview of their upcoming album, El Reparto by Gente de Zona, a project set to redefine the boundaries of contemporary Cuban music.
“Almohada” represents an innovative blend of genres and styles. Rooted in romantic reparto, the song stands out with its symphonic sound, combining the tradition of Cuban charanga and chamber orchestra with modern elements such as bolero guitar, hints of rock, and the electronic instrumentation characteristic of timba. This track encapsulates Gente de Zona‘s signature tropical spirit, fusing it with a contemporary approach that flirts with pop and urban music.
“This album, El Reparto, is our way of showing the world an evolution of the genre that defines our culture, taking it to new frontiers. We want our music to reflect who we are and where we want to go,” explains Randy Malcom of Gente de Zona.

The lyrics of “Almohada” tell an everyday story inspired by romantic relationships, centered around a promise made upon reuniting with someone special. The narrative, from the man’s perspective, includes phrases like “I knew you’d come back” and “You miss my messages,” capturing genuine emotions that resonate with couples’ dynamics and pride in love.
“We wanted to create a song that not only blends the genres we’re passionate about but also tells an authentic story that resonates with our people,” shares Alexander Delgado of Gente de Zona. “It’s a bold move, but we love exploring new musical directions.”
The track features El Metáliko, whose work is celebrated for capturing the roots of Cuban music while adapting it to a fresh and innovative perspective.
